What is the best first–aid treatment for suffocation or strangulation?
The patient should be placed in the open air.
If there is anything about the neck that might be abstract breathing. It should be loosened immediately.
Elevate the chin, this will give the patient a better airway.
If strangulation is due to a foreign body that has lodged in the windpipe, grasp the victim around the waist from behind with both hands and tighten your grip with a sudden, forceful inward and upward thrust. This will usually cause him to cough up the foreign body.
