Eating at Night Adds to Calorie Count
Whether you pile on weight or not depends on your total calorie intake over a period of 24 hours and more often, over a week. When you eat those calories doesn’t matter. Having said this, you may tend to eat larger portions (higher calories) in the night than you would do during the day. But as long as you keep the calorie intake within limits, the time of the day doesn’t matter. In fact, experts also say that it’s best to eat when you are hungry. Sticking to a particular schedule only makes it harder to stick to a diet.
Fat Makes You Feel Full for Long
While this was the accepted notion in the past, recent studies have challenged this logic. It may be true that fat takes longer to digest. However, it is also the least satiating of all food groups. Hence, it won’t make you feel full for a longer time. In fact, proteins will help you stay away from hunger for the longest time, followed by carbohydrates and lastly, fat.
Skipping Meals will Help Lose Weight
Many of us are so hell bent on cutting down on calories that we don’t mind skipping meals. However, what we also forget is that skipping a meal will only make us even more hungry which will ultimately lead to overeating during the next meal. And that’s not it.
Skipping meals slows down your metabolism. As a result, we end up losing fewer calories than we would otherwise.
Certain foods have far more potential to fill you up as compared to other foods. For example, fiber–rich foods such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. The nutrition level between different foods also plays a part. Calories are equal if you only concentrate on the calorie count. But when trying to lose weight, it’s not all that matters.
