This facility will be useful for people with limited medical access, children, disabled, prisoners, etc.
The van contains with two dental chairs with attachments like the spittoon attachment, 2–intensity halogen lights, micrometer control light cure, 3–way syringe, X–ray viewer, instrument tray, dental operator’s stool, and even a lavatory among others. The van has a seating capacity of 15 persons.
P A Inamdar, president of the Maharashtra Cosmopolitan Education Society told Pune Mirror,“The Mobile Dental Van will be useful for those who cannot consult dentists immediately.
It will useful for senior citizens, blind persons, mentally and physically challenged persons. We are also planning to help children at rehabilitation centres and also prisoners by treating their dental problems.
We are now deciding the pricing and also common stops for easy accessibility. This facility will be available soon in the city.”
Dr. Mukund Kothavade, principal of M A Rangoonwala College of Dental Sciences said, “This dental van is a full–fledged dental clinic where patients can get all their dental treatments done.
It will be also useful in emergency situations where a patient cannot bear the toothache and is not in a condition to move out.
Many times, people avoid going to a dentist due to limited access and other factors like phobia of dental treatments. For people like these,this van will prove to be a good option.”
