In a first of its kind initiative across India, suburban Police Commissioner SR Jangid on Sunday launched the free medical care for the police families in the suburban areas making it convenient by tie-ups with the independent medical practitioners in the respective area.

The initiative marked the beginning of focused health care for cops which is generally ignored by many for various reasons. A free scheme like this is aimed at encouraging the cops in various levels to go for regular check-ups and stay healthy along with their family.

The event was inaugurated by ADGP Rajendran, IPS – L & O. The cops on duty at the 39 police stations and 8 women’s police stations can now approach the local doctor to seek medical attention. Jangid said that this plan would promote healthier habits amongst his task force and eventually improve their functioning.

ADGP Rajendran appreciated the unique initiative while lighting the traditional lamp and had a check-up for himself.
