Medical and health minister A A Khan on Friday announced the formation of a separate homeopathy directorate. The minister made the announcement during the assembly debate on budgetary allocation for the department.

The minister said a hospital will be established in the city with a yunani and homeopathic directorate. A sum of Rs 25 lakh has been granted for it out of the total of Rs 1.32 crore allocation and 1,000 sq yard has been allotted for it.

The minister announced recruitment of 150 dentists, the deployment of 150 doctors on contract in tribal and desert areas for institutional delivery, beginning a free helpline for the medical and health directorate, hiring of 570 junior ayurved nurses and compounders, the deployment of 50 ambulances for those community health departments that do not have one, besides opening a deputy director of ayurved’s office in Bharatpur.

Provisions will also be made to reserve 10% seats in the training of ANMs for members of Asha so as to help 309 such Asha workers get ANM training every year.

On medical education, the minister said a proposal has been sent to the Centre for increasing the number of PG seats in medical universities under the 11th Plan to 530. Under the Plan every medical university will require Rs 50 crore for this and so Rs 300 core will be required in total.

The government has so far got six proposals for the establishment of an asylum in Mansarovar under the PPP and work on the project will begin soon after having gone through the proposals.

There is good news for those availing the facilities of the SMS Hospital as the government will soon begin work on dharamshala for relatives of patients at a sum of Rs 1.5 crore that has come through donations. The facility will be available in two month.
