Heart diseases are one of the leading causes of death across the globe. Out of these, more than two–third cases belong to Ischemic stroke. A latest therapy has proved to be very successful in saving patients suffering from the stroke, Dr OP Arora from Arora Neuro Centre stated on Tuesday.

“Timely intervention can make a big difference, especially in cases where the patient is suffering from Ischemic stroke. If provided within three hours, thrombolytic therapy can save patients suffering from such heart diseases,”he added.

Arora, who is managing director at the nuero centre, also stated that thrombolytic therapy has proved to be very effective. “However, the only condition is that the patient should be administered the injection within three hours of the stroke. After medical examination, the patient is given an injection, which starts working within three hours,”he said, adding that complications are seen only in a hand full of cases.

Meanwhile, Dr Neelam Arora echoed a similar view. “This therapy can give a patient a new lease of life. Also, the patient does not have to be hospitalized for long. Three such cases were administered the therapy at our clinic and all got discharged within five days,”she added.

While such cases usually occur only after a person crosses the age of 60, we have been receiving patients as young as 17, who benefited from the therapy, she added.
