In a bid raise various demands in connection to the health insurance sector, citybased Grahak Hitvardhini has organised seminar on health insurance in the city on September 28. The seminar will be conducted jointly with the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA).

Addressing a press conference on Friday, founder presidents of Grahak Hitvardhini Sudhakar Velankar and Shashikant Dalvi said, "This is the first joint initiative taken by a consumer organisation and the IRDA. With the participation of IRDA we hope that the issues raised at the seminar would be given due consideration by the government."

Dalvi said experts from hospitals, insurance companies, TPA companies, NIA and IRDA will participate in the seminar. Experts can respond to the demands. He said the seminar is open to all and will be conducted at Tilak Smarak Mandir from 5 to 8 pm.

Velankar said, "The main objective of the seminar is to raise the demands of consumers for restructuring of health insurance. The government should establish regulator for the health insurance sector. Second, premiums for the health insurance schemes should go down. Third, there should be standardisation and grading of hospitals under the health insurance schemes."
