FIGHTING MALARIA FIGHTING MALARIA
The health department of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will link up with 60 major hospitals in the city to track malaria cases in the city.

Irregular rainfall has led to the rising number of malaria cases in various pockets of central and new west zones of the city. Municipal commissioner Guruprasad Mohapatra said that the purpose of the link is to map the troubled spots which show a high occurrence of malaria cases after analyzing a brief history of the patients and their locations.

“This would help us execute adequate vector control measures to these troubled spots,” says Mohapatra.
Special demolition squad

Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) would form a special demolition and encroachment removal squad to remove illegal occupants from public thoroughfares, pavements and even demolish illegal buildings.

AMC commissioner Guruprasad Mohapatra emphasized that the squad would first remove encroachments from AMC land and revenue plots. “This squad is preparing a detailed list of encroachments on AMC land in the city. This move is important today as any delay in taking action would lead to legal hassles in the future,” says Mohapatra.
