Suggesting incentives for the doctors serving the rural populace, Sharad Pawar, Union Agriculture minister today emphasised the need to revive the concept of the family doctor.
Pawar was addressing a conference organised by Doctor's cell of Nationalist Congress Party.
"Government should think about giving incentives to those doctors, who offer their services to the rural masses," he said adding, "Latest technologies in the medical sector are threatening the common man as they are costly. But there should not be no communication gap between medical sector and common man."
"As the central government has opened its purse strings for providing better medical education, the quality of medical services should also be improved," he said.
Fauzia Khan, Minister of State for Health, Vijay Kumar Gavit, State Medical Education Minister also highlighted the need to cut short the period of prolonged medical education.
