Under the project, the Unicef would show an animation film across the state to spread awareness about malnutrition and hygiene
Madhya Pradesh plans to spread awareness about malnutrition – which affects 60 out of 100 children in the state – in co-operation with Unicef.

The Woman and Child Development Department has chalked out a special action plan to check malnutrition in the state.

Under this, an animation film produced by Unicef that aims at reducing malnutrition levels and focuses on hygiene and the use of clean water will be screened across the state from Wednesday, an official said.

According to the 2010 report of the National Rural Health Mission, which works under the central Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, malnutrition among children is the most prevalent in Madhya Pradesh. The national average is 42 out of 100.

The film, titled "Three Wishes of Meena", will be screened at selected venues of every project area. Each venue will cover 25 villages, anganwadi centres and the selected venues will be in the areas most affected by malnutrition.

After the screening, a coordinator will discuss hygiene, use of clean water and checking of malnutrition, reports IANS.

Madhya Pradesh has an over one crore child population in the age group of 0-6 years, according to the 2011 Census. It ranks fourth among the states having the highest number of children in country.
