It has introduced a scheme called Mamoni under which pregnant women undergo 3 ante-natal checkups during pregnancy

The Assam government has taken an initiative to bring down Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) in the state. The government has introduced the Mamoni scheme under the National Rural Health Mission for the npurpose.

'Mamoni’ is the scheme to encourage the pregnant women to undergo 3 ante-natal checkups which identify the danger signs during pregnancy and offer proper treatment.

Under the scheme, every pregnant woman receives a booklet on the tips of safe motherhood and new born care. Besides, the pregnant women are also provided an amount of Rs 1000 in the second and third ante-natal checkups for expenses related to nutritional food and supplements.
