I Mrs. Daya Paranjape married Mr Madhav Gopal Paranjape on the 22nd of October, 1987. Before marriage, I did not know anything about him. Eventually, I was pregnant and delivered a baby boy on the 16th of August 1988. I stayed in a joint family from 1987-1994 and enjoyed it. I worked for two to four months but was not satisfied. Meanwhile, my children were growing up and the space at home was not enough. Tensions got high due to financial problems. Finally, we acquired a place on rent for 11 months. However, things didn't work out even as financial tensions increased. Meanwhile, my father passed away and I had to live with my ailing mother for a year. It was at about that time, that tragedy struck again. His mother passed away and I went back to my in-laws for a while. However, I had to return to my mother for the next two years. In the mean time, my husband began to drink excessively. Thankfully, he did not quit his job. Finally, I received a phone call one day saying, Madhav had been admitted to Muktangan for 35 days. I was very happy at the prospect of him giving up drinking as his behaviour had begun to affect my children and me. I could not take up a job as my husband visited my office and created a scene! |
