Direct contact
That is by contact with secretions from infectious lesions.

Fomites
Yaws may also be transmitted by indirect contact. The organism may remain alive on fomites or on the earthen floor in hot and humid conditions long enough to cause infection.

Vector of Yaws
There is some evidence that small flies and other insects feeding on the lesion may possibly convey the infection mechanically for brief periods. Transplacental, congenital transmission does not occur
