New Delhi, India

‘‘The total number of dengue cases have crossed 400. Dengue cases will keep coming till October as this is the season for vector–borne diseases,’’ said Yadav. On Saturday, Delhi reported 36 new cases, the highest number of cases reported in a day during this season.
Dr Bir Singh, head of the community medicine department at AIIMS, said strong action by the community is required to deal with the dengue menace. ‘‘People need to ensure that every corner of their house and immediate surroundings is free from mosquito breeding. There should be no scope for stagnation of water,’’ he added.
Delhi has been dealing with the dengue menace for the past three months and incessant rain has worsened the problem.
