A DAY after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said it can revoke permission granted to the Seven Hills Hospital in Marol and take back the land given to it unless the agreement terms are met, the hospital management on Friday assured the civic body that all the conditions will be fulfilled.
In a meeting with Additional Municipal Commissioner (Health) Manisha Mhaiskar, hospital representatives said they will make provisions for patients referred from civic hospitals, as agreed, at the earliest. Mhaiskar said while officials from the hospital were not too receptive in the earlier two meetings, they gave an assurance in Friday’s meeting.
"They promised that wards for civic hospital–referred patients will be readied soon.
Also, two BMC medical officials will be made members on the board of trustees and one BMC officer on special duty will be present in the hospital at all times," Mhaiskar said.
The hospital representatives also assured to reserve 20 per cent of the beds in the Intensive Care Unit and general wards for civic hospital–referred patients, and to provide medicines at the civic hospital rates.
The chairman of the Seven Hills group, Dr Jitendra Maganti, said there was no question of not abiding by the terms and conditions.
"We are completely aware of the terms that were signed in 2005 when the deal was sealed and there will not be one per cent deviation from the same.
Our prices are in fact 30 per cent lower as compared to all other hospitals in the city hav ing such infrastructure. We are even paying Rs 3 lakh per day as rent to the BMC for using their land," said Dr Maganti.
An MoU is likely to be signed between the two parties next week.
"Our law department will hold a meeting with the legal representative of the hospital and they will jointly draft an MoU," said Mhaiskar.
Days after the hospital was inaugurated, several BMC corporators had raised the issue of the hospital having started functioning without meeting the civic body’s terms.
