Private doctors play crucial role
A sensitization programme was organized for family physicians and private practitioners at the Dasappa Maternity Home. The aim was to create awareness about Revised National Tuberculosis Programme.

Out of the 75 people who attended it, 50 were private practioners. "Such sensitization programmes are essential for the holistic implementation of RNTCP, considering 50% of the population go to private practioners," said Dr Shashidhar Buggi, secretary of Karnataka State Tuberculosis Association. "It’s important these doctors ensure that those patients yet to recover after sixeight months of treatment be sent to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases and SDS TB Research Centre," he added.
