On Helen Keller Day, NGO Urges People To Donate Eyes
Help Someone View The World
Here is an opportunity to let others see the world with your eyes. On World Helen Keller Day, IDL foundation and IDL blind band launched the ‘One lakh eye donation campaign’ on Sunday.

Every day, around 500 people pledge amounting to 15,000 people per month. In the last four to five years, around 26,000 people have pledged their eyes but the demand is huge. IDL foundation, along with Dr Rajkumar Eye Bank, will try to gather atleast one lakh people to pledge their eyes in the coming one year. The responsibility, however, lies with the family to carry forward the formalities after the person, who has pledged, dies. So, members of IDL in a door–to–door campaign will meet families and explain them the procedure. IDL has also launched the concept of 100% eye donation organization, just like organizations that declare themselves 100% eco friendly. In this case, all the employees of the organization will have to pledge their eyes.
