Human chain creates awareness on sclerosis
For creating awareness on multiple sclerosis, a human chain of patients affected with multiple sclerosis along with families members and supporters was formed at Narayana Health City on Hosur Road on Wednesday.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, progressive incurable disease of the central nervous system, often crippling the patient. It is the most common disabling neurological conditions amongst young adults between the ages of 18 – 35.

According to a study conducted between 2005 and 2008 across 112 countries by Multiple Sclerosis International Federation and the World Health Organization (WHO), there are about two million people with MS in the world. In India alone, it is estimated that there are 40,000 to 50,000 people afflicted with MS. Of these, the MSSI is currently serving approximately 200 MS patients in Bangalore and 3,000 all over India through their branches in Mumbai, Calicut, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mangalore and Pune.

On the occasion of World Multiple Sclerosis Day, Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (MSSI) in coordination with the nine chapters formed human chains across the country. The Human chain in Bangalore was attended byseveral MS patients, their families and supporters of the cause and a free medical camps was also organised at Narayana Hrudalaya.
