ON MAY 1 , five medical colleges launched their scheme of ‘adopting’ talukas in the district for providing better health care.
Each medical college will offer Out Patient Department (OPD) services by consulting faculty members on a fixed day every week.
While B J Medical College has ‘adopted’ talukas of Ambegaon, Velha, Baramati and Shirur, MLA Sangram Thopte will inaugurate a medical check–up camp on Saturday. The Armed Forces Medical College has adopted talukas of Daund and Indapur and the AFMC Commandant will inaugu rate the camp at Kasurdi.
A statement issued by Dr Arun Jamkar, Dean, B J Medical College said that Vijaykumar Gavit, Minister for Medical Education, Maharashtra had directed medical colleges to adopt talukas for providing health care services.
These teams will visit selected rural hospitals and as an official launch of the function a multi diagnostic medical check up camp will be held on May 1 at various places in the district. D Y Patil medical college has adopted Pimpri, Junnar and Khed and Maharashtra Institute of Medical Education and Research’s medical college has adopted Talegaon, Maval and Mulshi.
