It has tied up with Narayana Hrudalaya Group to set up six modern hospitals in small towns like Bolpur, Khagarpur and Silliguri
The West Bengal Government is now contemplating the public–private–partnership (PPP) model to provide qualitative improvement in health and medical services in small towns.

To begin with, the State government has tied up with Narayana Hrudalaya Group (NHG), which will build up state–of–the–art hospitals at six small towns including Bolpur, Kharagur and Silliguri.

Confirming the proposal, West Bengal Minister of State for Health Sudip Bandyopadhyay said these multi–specialty hospitals being manned in corporate style could prove to be a boon for people in these towns who otherwise had to travel all way to the cities in the quest for quality health care.

“Six districts have been identified for implementing this model. Each of the six district hospitals will have a unit by NHG to enhance healthcare services,” added the minister.

As planned, NHG has proposed to build hospitals on 4,000 square feet near the district hospitals. “Apart from high efficiency diagnostic centres, these hospitals would be equipped with cath labs, dialysis units and MRI, CT scan units," NHG Chairman Devi Shetty said.

The Minister said that the government has already invited the expression of interest from well–known health care institutes to partner with the State and set up their centres in small towns.
