Therefore, diabetics especially need to eat foods that help in controlling and reducing the unusual high amount of sugar present in their blood. Here are some natural remedies for diabetes:

One of the best–known natural remedies for diabetes is bitter gourd or karela. Eating this vegetable often is good for diabetes. However, the best remedy is to drink the juice of raw karela early in the morning on an empty stomach, two to three times a week.

Indian gooseberry, popularly known as amla is fortified with vitamin C and therefore, is effective in controlling diabetes. Eating it raw early in the morning on an empty stomach, will give desired results.

Grape fruits can be sour and a little bitter in taste. But this fruit is excellent for regulating blood sugar levels in the body. Instead of drinking it’s juice, eat the whole fruit and it contains a lot of fibre too.

Jamblang better known as jamun in India is another natural food that is beneficial in controlling diabetes. These fruits come during the summers. One can also powder the dried seeds of jamun and consume it with some water.

Fenugreek popularly known as methi seeds are good for reducing diabetes. Soak a small handful of these seeds in water and leave them overnight. Eat the soaked seeds on an empty stomach in the morning.

Eating 8–10 curry leaves in the morning on an empty stomach regularly will help bring down the sugar level in the blood and urine.

Eating raw garlic is beneficial as it contains the compound allicin, which helps in controlling diabetes as well as cholesterol levels in the body.

Turmeric when taken in its fresh root form along with Indian gooseberry or amla is another natural home remedy. Please note: Kindly consult your doctor before implementing the above remedies.
