The pituitary gland is a Pea sized gland situated behind the bridge of the nose. Its a link between the nervous system and the Endocrine system. The pituitary gland is made of an Anterior lobe and a posterior lobe. Each lobe release different hormones that affect bone growth and activity of the other glands. The function of the pituitary gland is to release hormones which are responsible for the growth ,sexual development and reproductive metabolism.

A tiny cluster of brain cells is situated above the pituitary gland, is the Master Gland called the “Hypothalamus”. It is a transmitter which transmits messages from body to the brain.its was known that the pituitary gland is the main controlling gland of the body but the fact being its just a subservient to the needed link between the body and the brain “The Hypothalamus”.

The function of hypothalamus is to sort of messages from body and transmit it to the Brain it responds to the body through the pituitary gland. and replies by nerve impulse and sometimes also by needed hormones.

The gland then answers its own body hormone needs, and circulates in the blood to various body cells and tissues including the other endocrine gland such as adrenal gland. The adrenal gland produces more hormones of its own in response to the growth and development requirement as well as the “Flight or flight response”.
