Craniosacral Biodynamics

Craniosacral Biodynamics through an extremely light and non–invasive, non–manipulative touch – invites the practitioner and client alike to settle into the transformative dimension of stillness, a field of potential for healing, regeneration, rejuvenation and well–being on all levels of body, mind and spirit.

Craniosacral Biodynamics
Craniosacral Biodynamics is a therapeutic approach which is based on the principle of the “Breath of Life”.

The “Breath of Life” is the life force which connects us to our being, our core and our health.

This inner life force expresses itself as a tidal movement that is very slow and constant. This subtle rhythmic motion is like an inner breath which is expressed in all the tissues, bones, fluids and cells of our body.

A trained practitioner can perceive and work with these slow, gentle rhythms, thus supporting the inherent life forces of the client to return to their natural balance and harmony.

This is done by resting the hands gently on the body and sensing the underlying qualities and shapes that the tissues hold. Cranial touch is non – manipulative. Indeed, clients aren’t even required to undress. It is the gentle and non–invasive nature of Craniosacral Therapy that enables the tissues to tell their own story, without any agenda being set by the practitioner.

In response to pain and trauma the body organizes itself the best way it can at the time. By listening to these patterns of organization, the tissues become aware of them and are able to let go of them.

The listening hand of the practitioner may detect many different levels of experience and holding of shapes around the experience. These can be felt as patterns of muscle tension, bony compression’s, membranous twists and pulls in the connective tissues, agitations and abnormal fluctuations of the body fluids or cycling energies within the Central Nervous System.

Craniosacral Biodynamics enables the body to complete inner processes it has become stuck in. It is as if the tissues and cells tell their story and in doing so can begin to breathe again. Clients often feel more present after treatment, as they literally become more of who they are.

The release of trauma patterns may be experienced in many ways by clients. There may be sensations such as tingling, pulsation or heat, emotional releases or vivid images and memories. Craniosacral practitioners recognize and respect the wisdom of the body in organizing itself around trauma, so do not push anyone into processing these shapes before they are ready. Instead, much of the work is concerned with building up internal resources, so that it then becomes safe to visit these difficult places within us without being overwhelmed as we were before. A sense of spaciousness and ease can be encouraged around the pattern of holding, so that it is able to melt away without becoming overwhelming and retraumatising.

Craniosacral Biodynamics eventually is an invitation to settle into stillness, a field of potential for healing and regeneration on all levels of body, mind and spirit.

The skills of the practitioner include conscious presence, a highly refined awareness and perception, the ability to hold spaces of deep inner stillness as well as a working knowledge of anatomy, physiology and embryology.

All of these skills allow a client’s body and being to rest deeply and allow space for self–correction and self–regulation on a cellular level.

Craniosacral Biodynamics has the intention to support and balance the whole organism, the treatment is always oriented to health, potential and resources. The work is extremely safe, there are no contraindications.

Craniosacral Biodynamics is especially effective for the following conditions
  • Stress and overload of the nervous system.
  • Post–traumatic stress, trauma caused by accidents, surgery, shock or illness.
  • Hormonal and endocrine imbalances.
  • Digestive and metabolic disorders.
  • Inflammations and infections.
  • A run–down immune system.
  • Acute and chronic pain – including: back and neck discomfort, spinal disorders, joint problems, headaches, migraines, dental trauma, problems of the jaw, issues with ears, eyes, nasal cavity.
  • Degenerative diseases and terminal illness.
  • Children with neurological problems such as cerebral palsy, autism, dyslexia, learning disabilities, delayed development and growth.
  • Expecting mothers.
  • Babies with birth related trauma.
  • Emotional and psychological wounds (blockages due to trauma, anxiety, depression, insomnia etc.)
  • Generally depleted conditions.
At the same time it is not necessary to have a particular issue to enjoy a session – as the work is oriented to support health. Being present to ones own inner processes creates a state of meditative consciousness which is healing in itself. It helps slowing down, relaxing, and can open up new possibilities and vision.
