A doctor was arrested by the Goregaon (west) police on Thursday, after members of a political party complained that he did not have a licence to practice.
Kadedeen Prajapati (36) had a BAMS degree and ran a clinic at Teen Dongri.
He was not registered with the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC), police officials said.
“On Thursday evening, workers from the political party came to the police station and complained about Prajapati. We searched his clinic and made enquiries. It turns out that he has a degree from Aurangabad but did not get himself registered with the Maharashtra Medical Council. This registration is compulsary if a doctor wants to practise anywhere in Maharashtra,” said an investigating police officer.
The police have slapped charges against Prajapati under the IPC for cheating. Officials said he is a native of Uttar Pradesh.
